Membership Chair

Tell us something about yourself.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1983. We have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. My career in Human Resources for 35 years allowed me to constantly meet new people and create valuable connections with others who have become life-long friends. I love traveling and exploring different countries and states. One of my most memorable adventures was hiking on the Huayna Picchu trail which rises over Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. When at home, I enjoy hiking, working out and most importantly playing pickleball.

How did you start playing pickleball?

I was introduced to pickleball in 2015 by my husband Aaron when he was working for the County of Kauai Recreation Department. Thank you Jack Hodges for introducing this fun sport to Kauai. When I retired in 2018, I began playing more frequently and continue to hone my playing skills but more importantly want to just have fun playing.

What do you like most about pickleball?

The game has allowed me to re-connect with many old friends and to make many new ones. I enjoy the laughter, fun competition and camaraderie we have on the court, even if the courts we play on have cracks and grass growing on them. I help organize our Lihue group that has about 35 players that come out at least four times per week with shared nets and balls, instruction, and small tournaments. We are a very close knit ohana, ranging from age 15 to 85, and love playing and socializing with each other.

Why do you serve as Membership Chair on the PAK board of directors?

I believe in our mission to get dedicated pickleball courts and to promote the sport on our beautiful island. We believe that our many players would be best served by having an organization that represents their interests. PAK was formed for that, and I encourage all players, spouses, families, visitors and businesses to join us in our efforts. Game on…life is too short to not play pickleball!
